Send a Live Photo as a GIF on WhatsApp

WhatsApp often sends an iPhone Live Photo as a still image. Convert it to a real animated GIF here, then share the motion with iPhone, Android, Windows or web users. Processing stays in your browser.

How it works

  1. 1Choose the original Live Photo (.livp) or its motion .mov file.
  2. 2Convert it locally to a compact looping GIF.
  3. 3Download the GIF, open WhatsApp and attach it from Photos or Files.

Why WhatsApp freezes an iPhone Live Photo

A Live Photo is an Apple package containing a still image and a short video. WhatsApp does not preserve that package for every recipient, so Android and desktop users may receive only the still frame.

A GIF stores the visible motion in one widely supported file. That makes it a practical format for short reactions, pets, family moments and product demos that should loop automatically in chat.

How to keep the WhatsApp GIF small

Use the original Live Photo, trim the moment to the strongest one or two seconds, and avoid very large dimensions. Shorter loops send faster and are less likely to hit messaging limits.

If the GIF is still too large, use the MP4 option instead. MP4 is usually smaller and smoother, while GIF is better when automatic looping and universal preview matter most.

Private conversion with no upload

The converter decodes and rebuilds the animation inside your browser. Your personal photo is not uploaded to our server, and no account or watermark is added.

After downloading, review the GIF before sharing. WhatsApp may recompress media, so keep the original Live Photo until you confirm the result looks right.

Why is my GIF too large for WhatsApp?

Long duration and large dimensions increase file size. Use a shorter clip or choose MP4 for better compression.

Is the Live Photo uploaded?

No. Conversion runs locally in your browser.

Does this work on iPhone?
